The story is centered around Piper Chapman, which is based upon the real life experiences of Piper Kerman who was the inspiration for the TV series. She authored the book Orange Is The New Black which was adapted by the creator of Weeds, Jenji Kohan into the Netflix exclusive series. The show has been given some awesome reviews and has picked up quite a large following. The show was picked up for a second season prior to the first season had even been released on Netflix.
The show follows Netflix’s new business plan with every episode of the season being released at the same time. This allows for binge watching of the programs and allows for word of mouth to spread hype about the show. From there it snowballs into becoming a huge deal and with the production, acting and writing of Orange Is The New Black, it’s bound become an ever bigger hit.
Since the show has been adapted by Jenji Kohan, the show features many actors from the Weeds series. It’s always a nice surprise to see another one pop up while the season progresses. The main character, Piper is played by Taylor Schilling who gets in trouble because of her slight involvement in a drug deal. She was connected to the drug deal by Alex Vause, played by former That 70′s Show star, Laura Prepon. The drug deal had taken place years prior to the current time frame of the story. Piper is current engaged to Larry Bloom who is played by Jason Biggs of American Pie fame.
